Buckover Garden Village

500 acre site that secured an allocation within the West of England Combined Authority’s draft Joint Spatial Plan (now abandoned) for a new Garden Village comprising 3,000 homes, 30 acres of employment space and associated community, educational and green infrastructure.

David was the development lead for this project between 2018-22 and the achievements listed below relate to his stewardship of the project.

Working closely with the Tortworth Estate (as landowner) who are actively involved in the design and consultation process.
Assembly of a professional team capable of developing a vision and strategy for the delivery of a 21st-century Garden Village aligned to the Estate’s social and environmental values and St. Modwen’s responsible business ambitions.

Extensive consultation within the local community, local authority, parishes, stakeholders and service providers to address concerns and champion the opportunities that growth and investment in rural South Gloucestershire would bring.
Working with the multi-disciplinary team to develop an innovative sustainability strategy to include a fossil fuel-free development and net zero transport strategy.
